In this new stage of adventure, Fireboy and Watergirl face fresh challenges. The Crystal Temple boasts a total of 39 levels, comprising 25 normal levels, 5 simultaneous designed levels, and 9 white diamond levels. In the normal levels, classic obstacles like boxes, levers, pushers, light detectors, mirrors, and the challenges of ice/snow and freeze/melt lights are retained. However, a captivating new element captures the player’s attention—the crystal portals, adding depth and challenge to the entire game. These portals disrupt the linear paths characters typically traverse, demanding players to cleverly harness the mystical power of portals to accomplish various high-difficulty tasks. Remember to collect red, blue, and gray diamonds; although not mandatory for progression, they enhance your rating at the end. In simultaneously designed levels, both characters must move symmetrically, usually featuring more obstacles than puzzles. In white diamond levels, collecting regular diamonds increases your rating, and completing the level requires collecting one white diamond.

The Crystal Temple introduces an entirely new Crystal Portal mechanism, injecting a considerable amount of variability into the game. Crystal Portals instantaneously teleport Fireboy and Watergirl to different locations on the board. Sometimes levers or buttons are needed to activate portals, and they can also teleport and push objects, such as boxes. Pay close attention to the colors of the portals; a white portal will transport you to another white portal, a black portal to another black portal, and so forth. Careful observation and awareness of traps are essential, as an oversight might lead you into deadly waters. The new challenges and puzzles of the Crystal Temple introduce unique elements, making the entire adventure thrilling and full of anticipation.
